Championship Latest: Lincoln City Target Joins Pompey, £5m Middlesbrough Deal On Brink of Collapse

Stoke Complete Ethan Galbraith Swoop

Stoke City have completed the signing of Ethan Galbraith from Swansea City, with the Northern Ireland international joining on a four-year contract.

The Potters agreed an undisclosed fee with their Championship rivals, with the deal confirmed during a busy afternoon that also saw Svante Ingelsson arrive from Sheffield Wednesday. Galbraith’s move was confirmed as part of a double swoop, with Stoke continuing to back Mark Robins in the transfer market.

Galbraith impressed during his single season in South Wales, but Stoke moved quickly to secure the 25-year-old after discussions with sporting director Jon Walters, technical director Stuart Harvey and manager Mark Robins.

“I had a chat with Jon Walters, Stuart Harvey and the manager, and everything that I’ve heard, the ambition of the club and how the gaffer wants us as players to go about our job really appealed to me,” said Galbraith.

“There was a real commitment from the club to come and get me and show me that they really wanted me.

“I’m a big believer in everything happens for a reason and I’ll say coming to a club like this, a huge club, a historic club that has been at the highest level, and the ambition they’ve shown of where they want to go again, aligns with my own desire to play in the Premier League.”

Walters described Galbraith as “one of the most gifted midfielders in the Championship” and said the signing reflected Stoke’s ambition as they build for the new season.

Galbraith is on an extended break after featuring for Northern Ireland in June and is expected to link up with his new teammates next Monday.
