Birmingham City Open James Beadle Talks
Birmingham City are in talks with Brighton & Hove Albion over bringing goalkeeper James Beadle back to the club for a second loan spell.
The 21-year-old made 38 appearances in all competitions for Blues last season, including 35 Championship starts after replacing Ryan Allsop in early October. He kept eight league clean sheets and has now accumulated 92 appearances in the second tier across spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham.
Discussions are under way over another season-long agreement, with Beadle expected to leave Brighton temporarily again in search of regular senior football.
Chris Davies began pre-season with only one experienced goalkeeper and has made strengthening that department a priority. However, Birmingham are expected to pursue a loan or free transfer rather than commit a significant fee, allowing more of their budget to be used on attacking additions.
Beadle, who stands at 6ft 7in, has made 131 senior appearances during loan spells with Crewe Alexandra, Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham. The England Under-21 international remains contracted to Brighton, where he has yet to make a first-team appearance.
