As we look forward to Lincoln City players jetting off to Spain for their pre-season training camp, it’s time to look back over recent rumours and reports and see who has moved elsewhere.
We already know Barney Stewart and Luke Graham have secured Championship deals, while Eoin Kenny, a player we were linked with in January, has joined Portsmouth. Odin Bailey, another player we were linked with, has also moved on, but what is the state of play with the other players linked with the Imps over the past few weeks?
Remember, many of these probably were not targets, but merely the subject of errant paper talk and fictional stories aimed at boosting clicks.
Dael Fry
We were reported to be interested in Dael Fry earlier in the summer as the defender approached the end of his Middlesbrough contract. The 28-year-old had spent his entire senior career at the Riverside, making almost 300 appearances for the club, but uncertainty over a new deal led to links with several Championship sides. West Ham United, Blackburn Rovers, Burnley and Sheffield United were subsequently credited with an interest, while Lincoln were omitted from later reports concerning his future.
Fry has now joined Birmingham City on a three-year contract following his departure from Middlesbrough, so despite putting five of the eligible 23 Championship sides forward for his signature, Sports Boom still didn’t get it right.. Birmingham confirmed the deal on July 3, with the centre-back becoming Chris Davies’ second signing of the summer after the club fought off competition for his signature. Fry captained Middlesbrough during the 2025/26 season and led them to the Championship play-off final before ending his long association with his boyhood club.
