Ivan Varfolomeev

Bit of a gimme this, isn’t it? Do I need to spell it out? Probably.
For those who didn’t read my Boston analysis, as the game edged towards a close, a conversation struck up behind me. It was between some Pilgrims’ officials, and the first question I heard was ‘Who is their number 24?’ As it continued, it was suggested he was ‘miles above’ anyone on the pitch, and there was no surprise when he was put forward as our record signing. Ivan Varfolomeev stands out.
He has a bit of everything I have mentioned in the other four, I think. His background, one in which adversity has stood in front of him at all turns, adds to his character and mentality. He has the ability, real ability, to pick passes and shoot from range. He has adapted quickly to the strength and pace of the English game, and finally, he works as hard as the likes of Ben House to cover every blade of grass, all the time.
I think Ivan Varfolomeev will be coveted by a few Championship clubs come January, and if he continues to progress at the rate he is doing, I also believe it will lead to a significant seven-figure transfer fee. In the interim period, I predict, rather easily, that he’s going to be huge for us.
