Leicester City Defender Wanted By Championship Rivals
Sheffield United, Wrexham and Stoke City have all been linked with a move for Leicester City defender Harry Souttar, although West Ham United are reportedly leading the race.
Leicester are believed to be willing to sell the Australia international following their relegation to League One. The 27-year-old returned from a lengthy injury absence in April and featured in the Foxes’ final two Championship fixtures, having previously spent time on loan at Sheffield United.
Souttar became a key player at Bramall Lane after joining the Blades in the summer of 2024, but his spell was cut short by injury. Sheffield United are now said to be interested in bringing him back, while Stoke, another of his former clubs, and Wrexham have also been named among his admirers.
West Ham appear to be the early favourites and will have the advantage of parachute payments following their relegation from the Premier League. Leicester are reportedly seeking around £10 million, a valuation which could prove difficult for some of the interested clubs to meet.
The Foxes have also been linked with Souttar’s older brother John as a possible replacement. Harry Souttar has extensive Championship experience and remains a regular Australia international, but his recent injury record means any interested club may need to assess both his fitness and Leicester’s asking price before progressing.
