Boston United have added Sheffield United defender Sai Sachdev to their squad on loan until the January transfer window.
The right-back becomes the latest arrival at the Jakemans Community Stadium as the Pilgrims continue preparing for the new campaign, with new faces into the double digits.
Sachdev has spent the early part of pre-season working within Sheffield United’s senior set-up and was included in the squad that travelled to Spain for a training camp. The Blades have now decided that a temporary spell with Boston will provide the defender with an opportunity to gain more regular senior experience.
The 21-year-old could make his first appearance for his new club on Saturday afternoon, when Boston welcome Peterborough United for their latest pre-season fixture.
Sachdev joins fellow Sheffield United player Luke Faxon in Lincolnshire, giving the Pilgrims another young addition from the Championship club ahead of the start of the competitive campaign.
Born in Leicester, Sachdev began his football education with Leicester City before joining Aylestone Park following his release at the age of 13. He remained with the local club until he was 16, when a successful trial earned him a place within Sheffield United’s academy.
His progress at Bramall Lane saw him invited to train with the first team during an injury crisis in October 2022. He made his professional debut later that month, coming on as a substitute during a 3-1 Championship defeat against Stoke City.
Sachdev has made two league appearances for Sheffield United, as well as one outing in the EFL Cup. His other experience of senior football came during a loan spell with Oldham Athletic in 2024, where he featured six times in the National League.
The defender has also represented England at youth level. He played for the under-17 and under-18 sides before making his England under-19 debut during a 1-0 defeat against Germany in September 2023.
His arrival gives Boston another option on the right side of defence and offers Sachdev the chance to continue his development away from Bramall Lane. The agreement currently runs until the New Year, meaning he will spend the opening months of the season with the Pilgrims before returning to Sheffield United.
Provided the required approval is received, Saturday’s meeting with Peterborough could offer supporters their first opportunity to see the new signing in action.
