Sporting Could Make £17m+ Move For Swansea Striker
Swansea City could face a battle to keep Žan Vipotnik before the transfer window closes, with Sporting reportedly considering a move for the Slovenia international. The 24-year-old has remained on the Portuguese club’s radar after previous interest earlier in the year, although any approach appears dependent on movement elsewhere in their squad.
Sport Witness report that Sporting have identified Vipotnik as one of their preferred options if Colombian striker Luis Suárez leaves Lisbon. Newcastle United and clubs in Turkey are said to be interested in Suárez, whose departure would potentially provide Sporting with both the funds and the space required to make their move.
Vipotnik is contracted to Swansea until 2028, putting the Championship club in a strong position should Sporting eventually come calling. For now, the situation appears to hinge entirely on Suárez, but a sale late in the window could quickly bring the Swans striker’s future into focus.
