Swansea City are next up at Sincil Bank, with the Imps looking to carry our excellent away form into the final game before the international break.
The visitors have plenty of international experience to call upon, with a likely starting XI bringing together familiar Football League faces and players whose careers have taken them across Europe. I’m no expert on Swansea by any means, but I’ve had a stab at the players we might face.
A 4-3-3 looks the most likely starting point, with Adam Idah expected to lead the attack, having already scored three Championship goals this season. Cameron Burgess is absent, while Joshua Key features in this predicted side, subject to being fit enough to take his place at right-back.
GK: Lawrence Vigouroux
Vigouroux has taken a roundabout route to becoming a Championship regular, with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool both featuring in his early career. His first sustained taste of senior football came at Swindon Town, before spells in Ireland and Chile and a successful stint with Leyton Orient, where he was briefly linked with us.
He joined Swansea from Burnley in July 2024 and has since made his senior international debut for Chile. One of his understudies is Paul Farman, our 2016/17 hero.
RB: Filip Lissah
Lissah takes the right-back spot in our predicted XI, having gained valuable senior experience on loan at Falkirk last season. The 21-year-old joined Swansea from Chelsea in 2021 and made his first-team debut against Bournemouth in the FA Cup in January 2024.
With Josh Key’s injury, the Czech Republic under-21 international returned from Scotland to make his Championship debut against Stoke City in August.
CB: Ben Cabango
The Swansea captain provides continuity at the heart of the defence, having come through the club’s youth setup after an earlier spell with Newport County. A loan at The New Saints gave him senior experience before he established himself with the Swans.
The Wales international is still only 26, but already has more than 250 league appearances for Swansea behind him.
CB: Stephen Welsh
Welsh offers a different route into the same defence, having developed at Celtic before moving to Swansea this summer. His time in Scotland included a loan at Greenock Morton, while further spells with Mechelen and Motherwell broadened his experience.
He also scored against Real Betis in the Europa League for Celtic, so there is European pedigree alongside his domestic background, as well as a recent call-up to the Scotland squad.
LB: Josh Tymon
There is an irony in Tymon now being such an established Swansea player: his first senior goal came against them, in an FA Cup victory for Hull City in January 2017. He subsequently moved to Stoke City, spending six years there before joining the Swans in September 2023.
The former England youth international is the likely choice on the left of the back four.
RCM: Elijah Just
Just arrived this summer after a season at Motherwell in which he earned a nomination for the PFA Scotland Premiership Player of the Year award. He had previously played in Denmark with Helsingor and Horsens, as well as spending time on loan in Austria.
The attacking midfielder has been called up by New Zealand for their forthcoming internationals, alongside Swansea teammate Marko Stamenic. Having scored at the 2026 World Cup, Just will be looking to carry that international form into another spell with the All Whites.
CM: Marko Stamenic
Just could line up alongside his international teammate Stamenic, whose previous clubs include Copenhagen and Red Star Belgrade. Nottingham Forest brought him to England in 2024, but he spent the following season on loan at Olympiacos before joining Swansea permanently in August 2025.
Stamenic has also been named in New Zealand’s squad for the upcoming international break. He and Just will therefore head away with the All Whites after the visit to Sincil Bank.
LCM: Stephen Eustaquio
One of the more eye-catching names in the side, Eustaquio joined Swansea in August after a career that included a substantial spell with Porto. He scored against both Club Brugge and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League for the Portuguese club and has represented Canada at the World Cup.
He has been called up by Canada for the forthcoming international break and will join their squad after this weekend. Before then, he brings considerable experience to a Swansea midfield we will need to keep under pressure.
RF: Moussa Yeo
Yeo came through Guidars in Mali before joining Red Bull Salzburg in 2022, initially developing with their associated club Liefering. He made his Salzburg first-team debut in May 2024 and subsequently gained European experience with the Austrian side.
Listed as a midfielder, the 22-year-old is included on the right of the attack in this predicted XI.
ST: Adam Idah
With three league goals already, Idah is the obvious focal point for the visitors. The Republic of Ireland international emerged at Norwich City, where he was once a target for us. Sadly, as we tried to sign him, he announced himself with an FA Cup hat-trick at Preston in only his third senior appearance.
His later spell at Celtic brought another memorable cup moment, scoring the winner against Rangers in the 2024 Scottish Cup final. Idah has also been selected for the Republic of Ireland squad and will head away on international duty after this weekend’s game.
LF: Melker Widell
Widell completes the proposed front three, although his ability to operate in central midfield gives Swansea scope to alter their shape. He developed at Malmo and played for Landskrona before moving to Danish side Aalborg, from whom Swansea signed him in January 2025.
He remained in Denmark on loan for the rest of that season and made his senior Sweden debut against Northern Ireland that March.
