Birmingham City Loanee Puts Promotion Before Transfer Talks
Birmingham City winger Liam Millar has put questions about a permanent transfer aside as he concentrates on helping Blues reach the Premier League. The Hull City loanee scored twice in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers, taking his tally to four goals and three assists in seven appearances.
The 27-year-old has scored in three successive home games since his deadline-day arrival. His Hull contract expires next summer, although the Tigers hold an extension option.
“I’m really enjoying it. I’ve had a great time here and my family loves it here. But I’m being honest with you, my full focus is on helping Blues get to the Premier League and we’ll think about what happens after that.”
Blues have won three successive games and sit fourth in the Championship. Millar has contributed despite admitting to fatigue following three appearances for Canada during the international break.
Having helped Hull win promotion last season, the winger believes there are similarities between that side and his current team. He has urged Blues to keep their expectations steady through the division’s changes in form.
“I see a lot of similarities with this Blues team to what I saw with Hull last season. We’ve got to keep a mentality of trying not to get too high or too low and ride it out.”
