Bristol City Confident Of Lorent Tolaj Return
Bristol City manager Michael Skubala is confident Lorent Tolaj can return against Stoke after missing three matches with an injury sustained during the international break. The striker has resumed training with the group, but Saturday’s defeat to Sheffield United came too soon.
Ollie Arblaster’s early goal condemned the Robins to a 1-0 defeat at Ashton Gate. Tolaj had also missed the draw with Charlton Athletic and defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
“He’s been on the grass, he’s been training with the group, but it’s probably one just too short. But we’re really confident we’re going to see him next week.
“With a week’s training, we’ll see him next week at Stoke.”
Skubala explained that Bristol City had considered bringing Tolaj back earlier, but were concerned about aggravating the problem. With the season still in its early stages, they opted to give him more time before returning him to action.
Ballard has started four successive games and completed both defeats last week, having not previously played a full match this season. Skubala felt the workload was evident against the Blades and said Tolaj’s absence had been felt.
“Dom’s done well, but I thought he looked tired today, if I’m honest. Dom’s done well, but he’s had to carry the load because Tolaj’s been out.
“Tolaj, in that situation at times, has been a bit of a miss for us.”
