Ainsworth Scored a Hat Trick in His Last Appearance at Sincil Bank

Sticking with Sir Gareth, and often people fondly recall the hat trick he scored in his last game for the club. I remember it; I was there at the Stacey West End as he bagged all three in a 3-3 draw with Scarborough.

The problem is, it wasn’t his final game, not at Sincil Bank. Three days later, we lost 2-0 at home against Mansfield Town, and Ainsworth played. Even that wasn’t his final game; a week later we went to Rotherham and lost 3-1, another game he played in. Sir Gareth actually played 180 minutes after his Scarborough hat-trick.
