3. Chiedozie Ogbene
Ogbene’s situation is different because his loan is only scheduled to run until January. An extension would require another agreement with Ipswich, and although he has been a relatively regular member of our matchday squad, he has been in and out of the starting side.
His return so far is two league starts, one League Cup start and five substitute appearances, without a goal. That does not tell the whole story of his contribution, but it does raise questions about what Ipswich want from the arrangement and whether they feel he is getting enough football.
There is also the financial consideration. I would imagine Ogbene is a relatively expensive player, and if Ipswich are contributing towards his wages, they may want a greater return in terms of minutes or consider whether a permanent sale is possible.
We have time to make the case for keeping him, but his stay beyond January cannot be taken for granted. Equally, departures among these three attacking loanees would give us room to explore fresh options, so there would be an opportunity to reshape that part of the squad.
