We had a decent relationship with Ipswich last season and Paul Hurst seemed to have mutual respect with Danny and Nicky too, so why not link up and have a look at their younger players?
One who I’ve liked the look of ever since our FA Cup matches is Andre Dozzell, the son of former Tractor Boys hero Jason Dozzell. He was one of the few in blue who came out of the 2-2 draw at Portman Road with any credit at all, but since the replay at Sincil Bank he’s only appeared three times for the first team. That is partly due to tearing his cruciate at the start of last season, causing him to miss the entire campaign.
19-year old Dozzell is capped through to U19 level and has some proper quality on the ball. It might not be the case that Hurst is willing to loan him out, but after losing ground with his development, the quickest way to get him up to speed would be with regular football in the lower divisions.
As an attacking midfielder he could be deployed in the 4-3-3 or the 4-2-3-1 that Danny likes, but 4-4-2 wouldn’t seem to suit him. He would suit a more passing game too, which is what many observers, myself included, feel we’re going to be looking to play this season.
