Six exciting loan players the Imps could sign in the next few weeks

Todd Cantwell

Last season it was us giving players to Norwich’s U23 squad, but after the way we looked after Sean Raggett in the first half of the season, why would we not be allowed to look after one of their young players? If we could, 20-year old Todd Cantwell might be a great choice.

Cantwell is a central midfielder, he’d be a youthful presence with O’Connor, Bostwick and Frecklington. He is one who can get forward too, perhaps as much in the Lee Frecklington mould as anybody.

He too has been out on loan already, playing for Dutch side Fortuna Sittard last season as they earned promotion to the top flight. He’s been keen to force himself in Daniel Farke’s plans and, given their current financial situation, that might be the best option for him.

He has one senior appearance to his name, that coming in the FA Cup game against Chelsea in January, immediately after he was sent to the Netherlands. We might be a bit overloaded on central midfielder, but if there was one we’d be lucky to get, it would be Cantwell.

  1. I don’t know why people indulge in this kind of conjecture. Let’s face it if you throw enough names into the hat you might get lucky with one. It’s a bit like the lottery though where you might get 1 number up but more often than not zero…..
