Jason Shackell
Shackell is going to be a big loss for the club. He picked up a second bookable offence for dissent against Swindon and was also dismissed, but his one match ban will only cover the Grimsby game.
He’s been a colossus at the back for us this season and even bagged our opening goal at the weekend, but in terms of replacement it isn’t actually all that hard.
Scott Wharton was thought to be heading back to Blackburn, but surely Danny will beg to keep the young defender now and he’ll drop straight into the side for the visit of the Cods. He scored against them during his loan spell last season and has proven himself to be a top-notch centre back.
He’s been viciously unlucky during his tenure this time around, he’s surely good enough to play first team football at this level and he’s one who will deputise ably in Shackell’s absence.
