4th – David Ball
I would have had this right at the bottom of the list for a number of reasons, but it’s been nudged up as Boldewijn’s move being mentioned by Michael Hortin made that less likely.
A report that appeared in the Blackpool Gazette linked us with Ball who was recently released by Rotherham. He’s a free agent and has been linked with a possible move to the Seasiders, as well as about thirty other teams.
He’s former Manchester City youngster who made his name playing for Fleetwood Town before a move to Rotherham, where he scored eight in their promotion season.
He found himself out on loan last season with Bradford City who are amongst the clubs reported to be interested.
Again, I can see why Danny would go for Ball. He could play behind Akinde, but perhaps also act as a back up as well.
The number of other clubs linked makes me wonder if this is an attempt by an agent to drum up some interest, or draw parties out into the open. David Ball is a decent player, his goals ratio won’t get pulses racing but in terms of adding something different, he would improve the squad.
