2nd – Jorge Grant
This link was almost inevitable in my opinion. I do know Grant came to look around at some point last season and was heavily linked with a move to us before going to Mansfield.
He tore up League Two in 2017/18 and, despite not featuring much for his loan clubs last season, saw one finish top (Luton) and the other fourth (Mansfield). According to Football League World, we’re now in with a shout of getting him again.
He’d be a good loan player for us. If we got the Jorge Grant of two years ago, he’d be tremendous. 12 months ago I was signing his praises, claiming the Luton move would see him excel and force his way in at Forest.
Dare I say, he was woefully under-used at Mansfield Town. I’m not a Flitcroft fan, as you’ll know, nor do I feel he made the best of a good squad. It’s easy to point to a player and say things like ‘lazy’ or ‘not committed’ when things haven’t gone well, but in a crucial match against us, Grant didn’t impress when I feel they needed a spark.
There is value here. It’s a deal I can see fitting a wage structure and one that I suspect could be revisited after last season. Of all the stories so far, this is the one I rate as most likely.
