1st – Ben Coker
This is a deal I can see being done or perhaps even already having been done. The left-sided player was a real handful for Southend when fit and his background correlates with the sort of player Danny looks for. He’s come from non-league, he’s proved himself in League One and his attitude always gets high praise.
He plays on the left of the field, usually at left back but also a little further forward if required. He hasn’t, to my knowledge, played a lot of football on the left wing, but Danny Rowe and Tom Pett hadn’t played a lot through the centre. Look how that worked out.
A contact of mine from the south-east confirmed the belief that Coker was moving to us, even suggesting the deal was close to completion a couple of weeks ago. There might be a hold up as we look to deal in a few players, or there might be a hitch.
It might be that my contact wasn’t right either, but Coker himself seemed to confirm a deal was in place.
Of all the rumours so far, this is the one I expect to see come to fruition.
What is the situation regarding our better loan players last season. O’Hara, McCartan and Rowe. Has the interest in them not been followed up?
Coker i read elsewhere has just got married at the weekend maybe that has delayed things abit?
