Michael Bostwick – Stevenage
Imps Appearances – 125
Imps Goals – 10

I think I covered Michael Bostwick adequately in this article last week, but for clarity, I’ll go over it again. Would I have 34-year-old Michael Bostwick back after just 29 starts in a year-and-a-half at Stevenage? No, of course not. Would I have prime Michael Bostwick back, the player we saw prowling Sincil Bank for three seasons, lifting a League Two title and the Checkatrade Trophy? Hell, yeah. In fact, I don’t think there are many Championship clubs that wouldn’t take the Peterborough-era Michael Bostwick tomorrow.
Of course, he won’t be coming back at 34, and there’s no reason we would want that, but I still have nothing but respect for him.
Liam Bridcutt – Blackpool
Imps Appearances – 50
Imps Goals – 1

Another 34-year-old, and another whose later career has been blighted by injury. However, after 50 Imps appearances in two-and-a-half years, it’s fair to say Liam Bridcutt’s stay with us wasn’t as good as he might have hoped. He’s recently been released by Blackpool, where he played four times all season, twice from the start of games. I think it’s fair to say that whilst Bozzy might have another season in him somewhere, Liam’s playing career is surely over.
Would I have him back now? Obviously not. Would I have peak Lincoln City Liam Bridcutt back? When he was fit, obviously. I said he was the best player I’d seen play for Lincoln, and I stand by that, 100%. When he played for Michael Appleton’s teams, we were infinitely better. Could you imagine, 32-year-old Bridcutt, fit and firing, alongside Ethan Erhahon in the midfield? A master and apprentice situation, the best midfield in the division by a mile
It’s the stuff of fantasy now, with Bridcutt surely heading into coaching.
