A man who was once described to me as having the best agent in football – a man who, despite his undoubted talent, never really endeared himself to Imps fans. They called Nicolas Anelka Le Sulk, but compared to Nolan, Anelka was the happiest, most easy-going man on the planet.

What was it about Nolan? Petulant red cards? That engineered loan move to Wrexham? The fact after we released him, he moved to Grimsby and helped them get promoted? All of that, and more?

He’s looking for a new club after his release from Tranmere, and you’ve more chance of platting fog than him coming back to the Bank.

Mide Shodipo – Queens Park Rangers

Yes. Just yes.

Shodipo, like Oakley-Boothe, was only with us last season, and he is now a free agent. I was told, off the record, that he likes it here, and we like him, so it’s just going to come down to the folding stuff. However, whilst a move for Shodipo is more likely than anyone on this list, it is also the one I would love to see.

I really like the lad. He’s got that bit of something special; he likes to shoot, gets in decent positions, and remember, he came to us without much senior football in his previous six months. I think a pre-season with us would see him a better player than the last few months, and given he did well (in my opinion), that would be a big bonus for the squad.
