25 outings. Maybe, one of any note. That’s the legacy 23-year-old Tashan Oakley-Boothe has left behind at Sincil Bank. Me? I remember those final few minutes against Barnsley, the utter disinterest he seemed to have as the game passed him by. Sadly, his career is doing the same – plucked from the Spurs youth team amidst huge promise, he’s struggled at Stoke and has now been released on the back of a dismal stint with us.

There’s no chance he’ll come back here, he was surplus to requirements more or less as soon as the Chippenham encounter finished, and I was surprised to see him get any minutes at all after Christmas.

Tom Pett – Port Vale

Imps Appearances – 65

Imps Goals – 5

65 outings, five goals. That was the sum of Tom Pett’s endeavours at the Bank, and I think it’s fair to say he had one good season bookended between two fairly average ones. Joining in the winter window of 2017/18, he struggled to have an impact, then grabbed the goal against Yeovil that put us in the play-offs. The following season he was an excellent box-to-box midfielder, critical in our title win, but injuries robbed us of him in 2019/20. He came on for Michael Appleton against Peterborough, gave the ball away, and was out of favour thereafter. In that final season, he started twice more, in the EFL Trophy against Rotherham (Freck’s last game, Ben Coker’s only game) and as we went down 1-0 at Gillingham.

He’s had a good stint at Port Vale, and some of their fans are surprised he’s been allowed to leave. He helped them to the promotion and got his chance at regular League One football, but will he get it again? I don’t think he fits in with what we need here at the Bank, but I could see him perhaps going into a newly promoted side, such as his former employer, Stevenage. It’s more likely he’ll drop into League Two, where he is sure to have a good year or two left in his legs.
