Six Current League One Loan Players Who Would Fit Championship Lincoln City

Jimmy-Jay Morgan (Chelsea / Peterborough)

Confession: When Jimmy-Jay Morgan signed for Peterborough, I was sceptical. In fairness, they’ve had a poor season, but him and Leonard felt like knee-jerk reactions to not getting Rob Street. Leonard has looked good, and I was surprised when researching this article to see how well Morgan had done.

Chelsea will want him in the Championship, that’s almost certain, so why Lincoln? 14 goals and three assists are impressive, and he immediately hit the ground running: he was on three in three when we beat them 3-0 in September, and luckily for us, he missed the January game. He can play deeper in the ten, or as a forward, and he’s quick, agile and has a keen eye for goal.

We’ll never look for a single player to hit 20 goals, sharing 40 across five players is far more Lincoln, and I think Morgan could easily slot into a Championship side and add value. However, he’s not one for aerial duels, so I’m not sure we’d have him as a nine, more a ten, and that puts him in direct competition with Jack Moylan. My gut is we’ll recruit some flair out wide, or versatility across the front, but someone restricted to a single position? Maybe, maybe not.
