Six Current League One Loan Players Who Would Fit Championship Lincoln City

Harry Gray (Leeds / Rotherham)

I had five, and I just had to crowbar Gray in. Firstly, he’s versatile, playing across the front line and as a forward. I can’t see him as our nine, but I can see him on the flanks, and that’s where the magic tends to come from, isn’t it? Gray’s loan spell doesn’t look successful: Rotherham have been relegated, he got two goals, both coming in his first four outings, and his loan was interrupted by injury. He’s just returned, too little, too late, and some may feel he’s got League One to conquer before stepping up.

Leeds would surely trust us, knowing Michael’s links with them, and something tells me Gray is better than the numbers he’s posted prove. He’s only 17, but has still been relied upon to some degree by Rotherham, which suggests to me an ability and maturity that belies his years.

Lee Clark is a big fan. “Harry Gray, what a special player he is,” he said recently. “He’s only 17. Some of the touches and some of the flicks were amazing. He’s got awareness and desire. He’s got some career to look forward to.”

My gut feeling is he could step up and add depth and value to our squad. Would he have the impact Lawrence or Cozier-Duberry would? I’m not sure, but he’s certainly one I wouldn’t be sad to see rock up at the Bank.
