The Top Ten Lincoln City Teams Of All Time: Where Does 2025/26 Rank?

2018/19 – League Two Champions

Now we’re talking. 19 games unbeaten. FA Cup run. Top of the table, and while we were top seven in terms of budget, we were the best side in the division. Those games against MK Dons, home and away, showcased the very best of us.

There are parallels with this season. Not only the unbeaten run, but Eardley and Shackell and a lot like Reach and Bradley. Akinde does have similarities to Collins in terms of being prolific before coming to the Bank, while I also see some similarities between Hackett and Andrade, albeit not in terms of attitudes.

I took this away from the National League side and dealt with it fresh as I think Danny managed to do what only a handful of managers have done: build something, then rebuilt something else, equally as successful. Colin Murphy did it, Keith Alexander was more a continuous journey. Very few of the 2019 heroes finished the 2017 season with us.

That gets my respect, having to essentially go again and step up a level. The Checkatrade Trophy win probably bridges the two seasons nicely.

The best ever? It’s up to you to debate that.
