1931/32 – Division Three (North) Champions

Almost a century ago, the Imps won the first Football League title, the Third Division (North). Having won the Midland League four times, this was a real bonus, almost half a century after our creation.
It’s going to be difficult to make an argument for this being the best-ever Lincoln side. The achievement is great, and as modern-day supporters, we probably don’t put enough weight behind some of the older achievements.
We finished joint-top, but scored 106 goals, and thus were promoted on goal average (dividing goals scored by goals conceded). We lost twice at home, and registered massive wins against Halifax (9-1) and Southport (7-0), although we did lose 8-1 at Crewe, we took 57 points from 40 matches, which would be 83 by today’s standards.
Allan Hall smashed 41 goals alone, something that has never been beaten at the Bank.
