Ten World Cup 2026 Stars You’ve Seen Play Against Lincoln City

Matthew Garbett – New Zealand

Garbett began in New Zealand with Western Suburbs before heading to Sweden with Falkenbergs, then Italy with Torino. He later found more regular football in the Netherlands with NAC Breda, first on loan and then permanently, before joining Peterborough United in 2025.

Garbett played this season against the Imps, as we put five past Peterborough United for the second season in a row at the Bank. I thought he looked tidy, and he was definitely one I’d take from Posh, given the chance.

He has represented New Zealand at under-17 and under-23 level, including the delayed Tokyo Olympics, and made his senior debut in 2021. By 2026, he was part of the All Whites’ World Cup squad, having also scored during qualifying.

New Zealand’s Group G campaign begins against Iran in Los Angeles on June 16, before a meeting with Egypt in Vancouver on June 22. They stay in Vancouver for their final group game, against Belgium, on June 26.
