Ten World Cup 2026 Stars You’ve Seen Play Against Lincoln City

Lincoln City won’t be represented at the World Cup this summer.

In fact, there will still only be one player we have owned who has World Cup honours, and that is Frank Sinclair. Other than him, we look for tenuous links, players we’ve borrowed who were there once (David Campbell) or players we had who have gone on to appear (Brennan Johnson, Joe Morrell). This summer, all eyes will, of course, be on Morgan Rogers, repping LN5 in his (or our) own little way.

That’s not to say there isn’t some notion of familiarity. There are plenty of players who have featured against the Imps in recent seasons who will be representing their country in the US, Canada and Mexico. Who are they? Who should you keep an eye on? Here’s our rundown of ten World Cup stars you’ve seen at Sincil Bank.

Hannibal Mejbri – Tunisia

Mejbri came through at Paris FC, Boulogne-Billancourt, Monaco and Manchester United, making his senior debut for United in 2021. He later had loan spells with Birmingham City and Sevilla before joining Burnley in 2024, helping them return to the Premier League.

Mejbri made one, rather notable appearance at Sincil Bank. He played for Manchester United Under 21s in the EFL Trophy, and was sent off for a second bookable offence as we won 3-2. Another World Cup player, not on my list, also appeared in that game: Iraq’s Zidane Iqbal.

After representing France at youth level, Mejbri committed to Tunisia and made his senior debut in 2021. He was part of their 2022 World Cup squad, appearing against Denmark, and was later named in their 2026 squad.

Tunisia are in Group F for the 2026 World Cup. They face Sweden at Monterrey Stadium on June 14, Japan at the same venue on June 21, and the Netherlands at Kansas City Stadium on June 25.
