Top 100 Lincoln City Players Of 21st Century (Part 2)

56: Tom Miller

Very few players will appear on this list from the National League era, but Tom Miller is an exception. He stuck around for a while, making 107 appearances for the Imps before stepping up into the EFL with Carlisle United. One of the few bright sparks of a very tough time for the Imps.

55: Steve Holmes

Holmes spans a number of eras, coming through our youth ranks, only to leave and forge a decent career elsewhere. He returned in the John Beck era, but in March 99, he suffered a serious neck injury that kept him out for ten months. His inclusion here is as a result of the second part of his Imps career, which included 69 games and a whopping 16 goals. Loved a last-minute goal, and his last-gasp leveller against Bury in 2001 earned us a replay. Sadly, he picked up a nasty injury in the replay and was forced to retire.

54: Rob Street

No surprise to see another of our promotion heroes on the list. Street had a challenging first season at the Bank, but a successful loan spell with Doncaster saw him come back to the Bank full of confidence. His goal against Chelsea is memorable, his one at Cardiff even more so. His leveller, late on against Stevenage, protected our record-breaking unbeaten run.

53: Jamie Taylor

Taylor is another player who stood out despite the challenging circumstances. Brought in over the summer of 2011, he needed a season to settle, but in a dour 2012/13 campaign, he scored 15 in 45, including eight in ten matches in October and November. In March and April, he scored three, earning us three points against Hyde and Tamworth – without those three goals, we’d have gone into the final day against Hyde on 48 points, two behind Stockport County in the final relegation place.
