Top 100 Lincoln City Players Of 21st Century (Part 2)

48: Mark Bailey

Mark Bailey was one of the heroes of 2002/03, the cobbled-together squad Keith Alexander worked with to get us to the play-off final. Bails had been here the season before and stayed over the turbulent summer to help spark the climb up Division Three. He remained a key part of the 2003/24 side that was cruelly robbed of a second play-off final by Andy Booth’s dive, before moving to Macclesfield.

47: Sam Habergham

A title-winner in 2016/17 and a Checkatrade Trophy winner in 2017/18, Sam Habergham was always a steady presence at left back. Probably best remembered for the free-kick against Torquay United, although I remember a cross-cum-shot that stunned a few people against Sutton, albeit in a game we lost 3-1.

46: Adam Jackson

A stalwart of the League One era, Jacko is the longest-serving player at the club. He’s not had a lot of luck with injuries, but has always been a consistent presence at the back, across the Michael Appleton, Mark Kennedy and Michael Skubala eras. Spent much of last season out injured, but still a player you guys love.

45: Regan Poole

Regan Poole wasn’t a popular signing when he arrived. Fans wanted a striker (don’t they always), and we signed a right back and a left back (Cohen Bramall). When Poole gave a penalty away against Hull, a game we needed to win to keep automatic promotion hopes alive, he was roundly condemned. I think he made it up with a couple of solid seasons afterwards, before his move to Portsmouth.
