Derby County And Middlesbrough Monitor Sheffield United Trialist
Derby County and Middlesbrough are reportedly monitoring Rabbi Matondo as he trains with Sheffield United during pre-season.
Matondo only joined Brann in March, but the Norwegian club are already prepared to allow him to leave. He struggled to make a significant impact following his arrival, while Brann are keen to resolve the situation because of the wages he earns at the club.
Sheffield United have offered Matondo the chance to train with their squad and compete for a permanent contract. The Blades believe he could improve within their team and will assess him during the trial period before making a decision.
However, Derby County and Middlesbrough are also said to be interested in signing him. Both clubs are monitoring the situation while he continues to train with Sheffield United.
The report suggests either side could make a move if Matondo does not earn a contract at Bramall Lane. That could potentially include another trial period before a final decision is made.
His future remains uncertain, although a return to English football is believed to be his priority. After a difficult spell in Norway, he will be hoping to find a club where he can regain his form and continue his career at a higher level.
