Jack Payne

Let’s try again shall we? Jack Payne has recently been released by Huddersfield and as they’re in the Championship now I’ve added him to our list.

He began his career with Southend, impressing enough to earn a move to the Terriers. He played 23 Championship matches for them, but when they were promoted began a series of loan spells all in League One. He played for Oxford, helped Blackburn to promotion and last season impressed despite Bradford’s relegation.

This is exactly the type of player Danny will be targeting. He’s 24-years-old and was hot property after his Blackburn spell. It’s been tough to make a name for himself at Bradford City, but on a free transfer, he’d be a steal for us.

He plays in the Shay McCartan role and can operate out wide as well. He’s got loads of flexibility in terms of position across the front of the side and that would make him a hugely attractive prospect for the Imps.

He bagged nine goals in 47 matches for Bradford last season, with 30 from 120 league starts across his career, all in League One or higher. This wouldn’t be a cheap signing but if we could capture Jack Payne it would be a massive signal of intent.

  1. Interesting read Gary, personally I agree with Mandron. He’d be a good addition to the squad.
Understood Danny Cowley to have indicated he would be looking at National League and Non League, any thoughts on players from there?

  2. Facts about the manager is all we actually care about, especially now it’s reported he’s being interviewed by West Brom. You keep telling us you’ve got his phone number Gary. Call it!
