5: Paul Morgan

The number five shirt is something of an institution at the club – there have been a handful of custodians who have had it for more than two seasons. Adam Jackson has been our number 5 for four seasons now, and Luke Waterfall had it for four seasons, although in the final one, he only appeared once. Steve Holmes had it for three, whilst Lee Beevers took it for two seasons after he wore the number 2.
One man stands head and shoulders above the rest – Paul Morgan. he had the number 5 shirt for five seasons, having originally worn 6 as Holmes had 5. Morgan was a Rolls Royce of a defender, a player who will forever be remembered as a legend of the club, and rightly so.
That said, if Adam Jackson sees out his contract, he’ll hit five seasons – a one-year extension might see him usurp Morgan as the top number 5 in Imps squad number history.
