6: Max Sanders

The number 6 shirt is not one that’s associated with greatness since we introduced squad numbers, a fact proven by Max Sanders being the most consistent at three seasons, one of those a half season. Indeed, another player had three, but cut slightly short – Danny Hone, but to avoid going five at the back, I’ve included Max. Also, Max had the shirt for slightly longer in terms of time – Danny Hone left us twice on loan during his stint as the six, whilst Max was always here, just hardly ever in the team.

See what I mean about it being a bit of a jinx? Nat Brown, Frank Sinclair, Jamie McCombe, Peter Folkes, Pual Morgan, Steve Welsh, Dave Barnett, Josh Gowling, Mo Fofana, Tony Diagne, Chris Bush and Cian Bolger all had it for a single season. Let’s hope Ethan Erhahon goes one better after getting it this season.
