Tom Bayliss
With players we did not own last season, I’ve added their heat map from the previous campaign, to give you an idea of where they might play. With Bayliss, I think we’ve signed a Bishop/Mandroiu replacement, and perhaps he will lead that link-up play between the other midfielders and the top two.
You already know plenty about Bayliss from all the news reports, but his stats from last season are misleading. Shrewsbury were bad for much of the campaign, creating less than Mark Kennedy’s Imps did. What we have here is a creative midfielder who is able to create and score but, in his own words, not afraid to do the dirty work either.
In that respect, I’d liken him more to Bishop (perhaps with a better fitness record), and last season, we saw Michael Skubala really liked Ted. He was instrumental when we played well, and whoever does fill those shoes at the head of the midfield needs to know what they’re doing from the off.
Bayliss is that man, in my opinion.
