Dom Jefferies
Aah, my favourite midfield signing of the summer. Why? Because there’s so much to learn here. I’m genuinely excited to see what Dom Jefferies brings to the side. His goals and assists figures from Gillingham don’t scream attacking midfielder. Is he an alternative to Ethan Erhahon if the Scot leaves for a big fee? Maybe, maybe not.
What he could be is the big winner in the injury complications other players are experiencing. Gills fans I know have spoken of a terrific engine, outstanding work rate and huge potential – that sounds like someone who could be an immediate fan favourite. I’ve had a Millwall fan message me discussing how we’ve got a top player, and Fehervar were watching him with an eye on a move to Hungary. I love not knowing. I love not really knowing what type of midfielder he is and where he fits into the plans.
If McGrandles and Hamilton are not fit for the season starting, I’ve got a funny feeling Dom Jefferies could be an early breakout star.
