JJ McKiernan
But what about John Joshua (JJ) McKiernan? He’s young and talented and perhaps more of a Mandroiu replacement, and he won’t be entirely happy with a place on the bench. In terms of starting games, I can see him and Tom Bayliss in a straight fight for a spot – I don’t think whatever injury situation pans out further back up the field affects these two.
McKiernan had a better season in terms of goals and assists, albeit in League Two, but he has less experience in senior football. My gut feeling is he starts as the alternative to Bayliss, but make no mistake, there will be rotation. Football isn’t an 11-man game anymore, and we’ll see McKiernan getting plenty of action, even if some of it is from the bench at first.
