7. Chris Maguire

Chris Maguire arrived with pedigree and the potential to be a creative heartbeat for The Imps. Unfortunately, he brought more baggage than brilliance. His best moment—a hat-trick against Sunderland—was also his only standout performance. Across 39 appearances, he scored five times, but two were penalties and three came in that one game.
Off the pitch, he seemed unhappy in Lincoln, and his attitude rubbed many up the wrong way. He looked more interested in confrontation than contribution. His eventual exit via a betting scandal summed up a signing that never truly worked. For a marquee player, the return on investment was minimal.
