6. Hakeeb Adelakun

Few signings excited me as much as Hakeeb Adelakun. With a background that included West Ham and a big move to Bristol City, he seemed a coup, yet he never delivered consistently. Over 56 appearances, he scored seven goals, but made just 22 league starts.
Adelakun’s form was patchy—excellent in flashes, anonymous in others. His return from a failed loan stint at Gillingham offered brief redemption, but it didn’t last. He had the tools to excite, but never used them regularly enough, and the Carlisle moment, where they scored after he went for a drink, underlined some of the issues. For a player expected to be a difference-maker, he ended up being a frustration.
