Jack Diamond

Stockport County winger Jack Diamond was linked with a return to City by Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, who also reported interest from Portsmouth as the player entered the final year of his contract. The 26-year-old previously spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sincil Bank from Sunderland, making 36 appearances in all competitions and scoring eight goals, including a hat-trick against Bristol Rovers. Diamond subsequently had a loan spell with Carlisle United before joining Stockport permanently in 2024, having earlier represented Harrogate Town and helped them win promotion to the EFL.
This one did raise a few eyebrows, and Jack has actually stayed put. He has scored three in six for Stockport, and I do think the Championship will come calling, but I am not convinced he was ever a serious target for us.
