Oumar Diakité
Diakite was that ‘shit, we’re massive’ moment that never quite came off. I can remember where I was when we were linked with him: sitting in a holiday cottage in Parwich Lees, wondering when we became a serious concern. With World Cup quality, he could have been a game changer, but as things went, his agent changed, the goalposts changed, and he ended up at Sturm Graz on deadline day.
He played in midweek against Bournemouth and drew a blank, but he’s flying in Austria. He’s only played four games due to arriving late, but has six goals and is third on the leading scorers list, helped hugely by a hat-trick this weekend against Grazer AK. He bagged on his debut and netted twice as his side beat Austria Wien 2-0. He’s in such form; he averages a goal every 36 minutes so far.
