Six Players Lincoln City Should Consider In The Summer Transfer Window

Fred Onyedinma

I’ve surprised myself with this pick, but he’s a player I just like. He’s 29, so resale value is low, but I’ve always thought he had something. Remember Gareth McCleary, or Marcus Harness, those players who just seemed to have the power and pace to be everywhere. That’s Onyedinma, and while he might seem like the most un-Lincoln City signing there is, I have an argument for it.

Onyedinma came through the academy at Millwall and broke into senior football as a teenager before gaining early first-team experience during a loan spell with Wycombe, which eventually led to a permanent move in 2019. He later moved to Luton Town, helping them achieve promotion to the Premier League through the 2023 Championship play-offs and making appearances in the top flight before departing in 2024 and rejoining Wycombe, where he now brings considerable Football League and top-tier experience.

Why us? Why would he be a fit for Lincoln? Remarkably, he profiles close to a few of our existing players, Reeco Hackett (76.37% match) and Rob Street (66.42%) on the right, Ben House (66.40%) on the left and even to Fred through the middle (can’t show the percentage as the app crashed).

He’d be functional, not for development, but that’s been the case with Adam Reach, Sonny Bradley and Tendayi Darikwa, and they’re players who have been superb for us.
