Nine Obscure Europe-Based African Players That Could Interest Lincoln City

Ismaël Diomandé

Ismaël Diomandé is a 22-year-old Ivorian attacker who plays for RFS. He started his career with AFAD Djékanou before moving to Europe with Slovak side Pohronie, where he made two league appearances during the 2021/22 campaign. He joined RFS in 2022 and immediately made an impact, scoring four goals in 15 Virsliga appearances during his debut season. A loan spell with BFC Daugavpils followed in 2023, where he scored four league goals in nine matches before returning to RFS.

Since returning, Diomandé has established himself as a key attacking player for RFS domestically and in Europe. He scored eight Virsliga goals in 14 appearances during 2023, followed by 11 league goals in 22 matches in 2024. He has also featured in Champions League, Europa League and Conference League competition for the Latvian champions, and has continued producing goals and assists through the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Why Lincoln? While Diomandé is only 22, he has a long track record of scoring goals, not only for a winning Latvian side, but also in Europe. He played a key role in eight European matches this season, and is also happy playing out wide, as well as through the middle. He’s eager to dribble and carry the ball, but has a decent return on his duels also.
