Jack Diamond – Possible
We were linked with a surprise move for former loanee Jack Diamond, as per Peter O’Rourke of Football Insider, back on June 10th, just over a fortnight ago.
The 26-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Stockport County, with Portsmouth (again) credited with interest as clubs assess whether a cut-price deal may be possible.
Diamond spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sincil Bank from Sunderland, making 31 league appearances and scoring six times, including a hat-trick against Bristol Rovers. His spell was cut short in March 2023 after he was charged with rape and sexual assault, charges of which he was cleared in January 2024.
Since leaving Sunderland, Diamond has rebuilt his career through spells with Carlisle United and Stockport, where he scored against the Imps in County’s 3-1 win earlier this year. Stockport reportedly wanted more than £1 million for him in January, but his contract situation has now alerted other clubs, with O’Rourke naming City and Portsmouth among those interested.
As yet, nothing has moved, and a search of his name for the last two weeks shows no further interest or movement with the situation.
