Bim Pepple
Bim Pepple was linked with us earlier in the summer, but the competition for his signature appears to have grown significantly. The Plymouth Argyle striker scored 18 times in all competitions last season, including 16 in League One, so it is little surprise that clubs are circling.
The latest reports suggest Wrexham and Preston North End are now interested, alongside clubs in Europe and MLS. Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield United and AGF have also previously been mentioned, giving the 23-year-old plenty of potential options.
Pepple would suit us. He is young, powerful, already proven in League One and has continued scoring this season, finding the net against Exeter City in the Carabao Cup. However, Plymouth boss Tom Cleverley has described him as a very important player, while the latest reports do not mention Lincoln among his current suitors.
This now feels even less likely than it did earlier in the window. Perhaps there was an enquiry or Pepple appeared on a wider list of targets, but the competition and Plymouth’s determination to retain him make a move to Sincil Bank extremely unlikely.
