Lincoln City joint head coach Tom Shaw suggested there could be “a couple of bits” arriving at Sincil Bank this week as the club continue working to strengthen their Championship squad.
The Imps have now faced three demanding fixtures since returning to the second tier, giving the coaching staff and recruitment team an opportunity to assess where additional quality might be required. Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against Portsmouth provided further food for thought, despite City creating enough chances to take something from the game.
Shaw indicated that discussions with Jez George and Liam Scully were continuing, with one or two additions potentially on the way. Several players have been linked with City during the closing weeks of the window, so who could those “couple of bits” be?
I have removed some of the players we’ve been linked with that have been completely ruled out, including Dario Saric (not ESC), Archie Collins (Huddersfield) and Joe Emery (just not happening).
It does leave a handful of open-ended transfers, some more likely than others.
