Jamie Allen remains a free agent following the end of his seven-year spell with Coventry City, but a move to Sincil Bank now appears especially unlikely. Although his 200 appearances for the Sky Blues give him plenty of Championship experience, there has been no credible indication that the initial report has progressed.
The arrival of Yunus Emre Konak also reduces the need for another central midfielder. With that area of the squad strengthened, the remaining business is more likely to focus on adding different qualities elsewhere.
There are also reasons to remain sceptical about the source of the story. It previously linked the Imps with Dael Fry, without anything substantial developing. Allen may have looked like a logical target on paper, but the squad has moved on since then.
