11 – Jorge Grant
Grant was not a typical Lincoln City signing in the summer of 2019. He’d caught our eye during a loans at Notts County, and quickly became a player fans wanted, the ‘Michael Bridges’ type. Further spells with Luton Town and Mansfield Town had given him extensive EFL experience before he finally left Nottingham Forest permanently, joining us for an undisclosed fee in July 2019.
That was massive for me. Permanent moves for players we’d watched develop and grow elsewhere never really happened, and yet here he was. He faced adversity: when Danny Cowley left there were rumours Jorge would go to, and he was reportedly hauled over the coals after an early Appleton encounter against Wimbledon, where he came off at half time. He responded with that memorable winner against Posh on New Year’s Day 2020, and stayed put when the squad broke up over COVID.
His second season at Sincil Bank brought a place in the League One Team of the Season, and a new contract which would keep him with us if we got promoted. We didn’t, and it was followed by an undisclosed-fee move to Peterborough United in June 2021, turning us a profit. He spent a year at London Road before joining Hearts, giving us a little more income, then returned to English football with Salford City in July 2025 after three seasons in Edinburgh.
