19 – Anthony Scully
Regular senior football was the opportunity Anthony Scully needed after progressing through West Ham United’s academy without making a first-team appearance. We signed him on a free transfer in February 2020, initially on an 18-month deal, and he scored 37 goals in 106 appearances before joining Wigan Athletic for a fee in the region of £300,000 in September 2022. His subsequent career took him to Portsmouth, where injuries restricted his involvement, then Colchester United on loan and Shrewsbury Town, where he reunited with Michael Appleton in July 2025.
I’m having him high up the list because he was leading scorer two seasons in a row, outscoring Brennan Johnson in 2020/21. He was the surprise package of that campaign, a player with no set position for the Imps, but who had plenty of impact. His performance at Cambridge in August 2021 was as good as I’ve ever seen in a Lincoln shirt, and we turned a profit on him as well.
