Efe Ambrose
We may need cover at centre back, I say ‘may’ because having seen the situation develop with James Wilson, I’m not sure we’d sign a player with experience who is likely to sit out a lot of matches. Jason Shackell, Cian Bolger and Michael Bostwick have the position sewn up, but what if one were injured for a month or two?
One solution could be Efe Ambrose. The 30-year-old can play at right back or centre back and has 51 caps for Nigeria. He’s previously been with Celtic and Hibernian, but spent six months of last season at Derby County without making an appearance.
Now, I don’t think our budget would stretch to him and if it did, I don’t think Danny would splurge such a big amount on a player like Ambrose. However, he’s experienced at a higher level and when all is said and done, we signed Jason Shackell.
