Islam Feruz
Finally, (thankfully, I hear you say) here is a name you probably haven’t heard of. This is right out of leftfield and is as unlikely as any on the list, but you never know.
He was once a ‘wonder kid’, a hot young thing coming out of the Celtic youth setup. He moved to Chelsea and seemingly had a bright future ahead of him. He played for Scotland up to Under 21 level and had been courted by Manchester City before his Celtic move.
Now, at just 23-years-old, he’s on the scraphead. Loan spells with Swindon, Hibernian, Blackpool, OFI Crete and Excel Mouscron brought just 23 senior appearances and no goals. Chelsea got rid in the summer, Feruz hasn’t surfaced anywhere as yet.
He can play right wing, in the hole behind the striker or as a centre forward as is a short, tricky player with a spark of genius and pace to burn. His career is on the slide and he desperately needs some mentoring and a second chance; it would be one of the summers most unlikely transfers, but you just never know.
